Ah right well there you go then. He's been playing first team football for 18 months or so in a tough, physical league. He's more ready than the other youngsters. I've always liked him to be honest, neat and tidy on the ball with a bit of bite in the tackle.

Saw Warren Joyce was bigging up Nick Powell the other day saying he was in the form of his life, never looking better. Bit too forward minded probably but be interesting to see him given a run out .....before he leaves.

Michael Carrick will miss Manchester United’s Barclays Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday through injury, but Adnan Januzaj could be named on the bench. Carrick hasn’t played since making an injury- time cameo against Swansea City in the first game of 2016. That was his 400th Reds appearance but he will not have the chance to add to his 20 outings against the Merseysiders for United. Louis van Gaal revealed to MUTV that Januzaj could be involved this weekend following his return from a loan spell with Borussia Dortmund. The boss also confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger and Phil Jones are making progress from their respective knee and ankle problems, but they remain doubtful for the Anfield clash. "I think we have the same injuries as before," van Gaal said. "Maybe Schweinsteiger is coming back but that is not sure. It is very tight to regain – he needs more time, I think. "[Carrick] is also injured; we have forgotten to mention it but he was injured. He is still injured so he cannot play either. "Jones is possible but [Marcos] Rojo, [Antonio] Valencia and [Luke] Shaw need a longer time. They are not ready yet." On Januzaj, he added: "We have taken no risk and we have built him up in our way of training sessions. Now he can be on the bench or he shall play in the second team."

Can't believe this hasn't be mentioned yet on here. So, Carrick - new contract or let go?

He could go when we have our CB position sorted so Blind can move back to DM because we will have Morgan too who can play that role.

I think it's a tough decision but I'm more in favour of giving him another year. He's got valuable experience and is one of very few players we have to have been there and done it. Even though he's not as consistently good as he has been in the past, he's still put in some good performance this year and if used sparingly could still play a big, important part in the side.

Depends on our situation come the summer but I expect he'll get another year, valuable member of the squad and helpful for the youngsters to have around.

he's a good vet but should be nowhere near the pitch in most cases, 3rd string at best nowadays and his only value is his experience right now

What is going on with his contract? Had his kids on the pitch against Bounremouth. Arsenal and West Ham are favrourites ti sign him??
WTF?!
Yes, his level started to drop, still our best CDM at times. Give him another year (unless we dign two CM which I doubt)

Yeah it would be a shame to let him go after everything he's done for the club as well as,like you said, being our best defensive midfielder this season (shame on you Schneiderlin)
Would love to see him extend for another year

If he leaves and Fellaini leaves, things get even more expensive for them. Be dumb if they didn't keep him another year , even as cover.

- Carrick's been our most consistent CM for years. - we can't get rid unless we sign a truly world class CM. - most of all, we CAN'T let him go to a BPL rival, FFS !!!! He is still a quality player, I'd rather keep him than Schweinsteiger.
