With the death of British Liberalism, controversy regarding American politician scandals like the one's following the Clintons, and the death of certain laws like the Patriot Act, I think that there is enough content to separate the In the News thread and an independent Politics thread.
The Current Affairs subforum was pretty empty so I couldn't resist.
And what I will first add is that Bernie Sanders (along with other entertaining guys like Perry, Santorum, and God forbid Donald Trump) is running for president. He's basically a socialist who left the independent party recently in order to run under the democratic party. I think this is interesting because USA hasn't had a true socialist candidate in a while.
I hope (quite foolishly) that instead of getting the generic Hillary Clinton vs Jebb Bush race, we get a Bernie Sanders vs Rand Paul race. Would definitely be something new and much more interesting. If the democrats lose this one, maybe they'll go down the same trajectory as the British liberals.

Donald Trump running for president. well, that certainly will make it interesting  I haven't taken the political system too seriously in a while, especially after the last republican primaries. It's just entertainment, which should depress me but I can't help but laugh. Have you seen his speech? It's a pity they cut out his entrance.

It's fox, they're as right as right wing goes True. Apparantly, rumors say that Donald Trump paid background actors $50 each to be his audience at his presidential announcement. He made it his priority to address the size of the crowd at the beginning of his speech saying it was thousands. Reporters said it was perhaps dozens. Hope Fox address this little story

What is this "gag law" that is in the works in Spain?
The failure of democracy is that representatives don't represent shit.

I'm really not an advocate of unrestricted free speech, and dickheads who bang on about 'freeze peach' as if it gives them the right to do and say what the fuck they want without consequences annoy the living piss out of me. But fuck about, those laws are ridiculous.

well, then you would really hate me Monty.
in Spain, it seems to be more of a matter of the ruling party trying to shut everyone up and stopping the demonstrations. i'm not too sure though

I don't think it's possible for a society to function properly with unrestricted free speech, and a good number of freeze peachers, especially on the internet, use the concept of free speech as an excuse to be a cunt without any ramifications. Fuck them. But it is troubling when a government tries to remove the right to protest, or criticise the police.

I know that "freeze peach" helps bigots continue to be bigots. But I also believe free speech has consequences and the backlash against bigots is enough for me.
Reminds me of this hilarious video.
the comment section is gold.
As for Spain, it's clearly a result of the government fearing the populous uprisings. The leftist Podemos movement is getting attraction for their anti-austerity ideas. And I reserve every right to film the police if the government also records its citizens. It's all about accountability.

Votes haven't been fully counted, but it seems like Greece is voting no on the referendum.
It's inevitable that they will leave the Eurozone. Greece is screwed either way
