Is this the poorest standard of refereeing we've seen in England? Every year refs and linesmen make questionable decisions but this season there seems to have been more than ever. Just Yesterday there were more than a few poor decisions. Fabregas' yellow card for diving which was a clear penalty. Then just a couple of weeks ago, Chelsea players are flying all over the pitch and none get punished. Burnley's first goal Yesterday as well was offside by an absolute distance, surely the linesman has got to see that, it was as clear an offside as you'll ever see. I even thought the ref in our game was very poor, every 50/50 he blew in favour of Spurs.
Those are just a few instances from Yesterday but every week there seems to at least 5 very poor and costly refereeing decision this season.

Stambouli should have been sent off yesterday

There seems to be comments like this every year tbh.... not sure the standard of refereeing this season is necessarily much worse than that of previous years.

Yeah kind of agree Jerry and over the course of the season I think these decisions tend to even themselves out. Having said that there have been some shocking decisions, karate kicks, diving, elbows, grappling etc. the referees should know the rules by now and all we want really is consistency. Elbows and hands in the face is a straight red nowadays, yesterday we saw two instances in which the players got away with it and probably won't get retrospective action either like Cisse has, which isn't fair.
Don't these referees watch football highlights and learn from mistakes each other are making. Seems like they are in their own bubble.

Perhaps they're too embarrassed to face up to the mistakes that they've made?

I can't see the harm in video evidence to be used if there's doubts over a goal. Offside for instance. It would take all of 5 seconds and in no way would it slow the game down. A goal conceded/scored could be worth millions if it means relegation or European football. I don't believe in video evidence in open play. There's so many cameras the offender will be caught out and should be dealt with after the game. Penalty decisions are tricky ones. I'd still leave that up to the referee to decide.

I don't think it's just England though, think of the World cup and how many crucial mistakes there were... Can't think of any from the Champions league but I'm sure that's plenty. It could be just the case of media attention being put on referees (more than usual) which could potentially lead to some changes in the game.

Shelveys been charged for his elbow with Marriner claiming he didn't see it.. how he can say that when he's right I front of it I don't know. Sterling got away with his.

It was hardly a shove, Debuchy jumped into him and Arnautovic stood his ground with a slight nudge, wasn't malicious for me.
