I think we both played for a draw to be honest, seemed like we didn't want to lose rather than to try and win. Falcao dropped, protecting Shaw. Agree with Carragher Di Maria to far forward for me.

Not the mind set I want from United if that's the case.
They came here with a game plan and we just pussy footed it around with the ball till eventually going behind but was too late then

Shocking, thought Blind was our best player. The manager made some questionable decisions, from formation, team selection and substitutions but that doesn't completely excuse the piss poor performance of the players. No matter what formation we play I expect player, to be able to pass to a red shirt and not needlessly lose possession.
We had alot of possession and in quality areas but the final ball or that one ball to start off a move never came. Everyone in the final 3rd had a bad game, Rooney, Mata and Di Maria were all poor but I'll excuse Di Maria due to his just coming back from injury.
On Mata, I've run out of patience with him, he's a classy looking player, full of nice touches and a decent finish (besides today) but to do this he needs a lot of time and space, something which we all know you don't get enough of in the premier league, he's too slow to the ball and he's too ponderous on the ball. I am beginning to fully see why Mourinho did away with him, he's a passenger when at the moment we need a team full of players.
Rooney was off again but he's playing in central midfield, he needs to be further forward to be having a full impact on the game, Herrera should be getting more starts. Also didn't see the logic in starting Di Maria so far forward whilst having Rooney so deep.
The defence again as a unit were pretty solid but individual errors were plentiful as usual.
All in all another very disappointing day at the office but you can't say you didn't see it coming we've been scraping results for a few weeks now.

Falcao was left out, not injured or ill.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal on the absence of Radamel Falcao from his squad: "As a coach you have to make decisions, you have to look at the composition of your team and select and look at your game plan. I decided he is out of the 18 because I have to change Luke Shaw and Angel Di Maria for example. You have to look at the needs of your selection at the time. Marouane Fellaini came in and because of his substitution we created three chances.
"I hope we are improving, because we can still improve. We showed today that we played better at home against Southampton than away, then we won but now we lost. We can still win the FA Cup and reach the top four, we have a lot to fight for."
Don't get that at all, not that he would've made too much difference today but how can you leave him out of the squad? Might as well terminate his loan early.

Blind was our best player, Valencia was a close second but really now I don't understand why certain players get matches to improve their form but others don't. it is really annoying to see that mata finished the game again when he was bad, when Herrera came on our tempo increased and with fellaini it slowed again because we were lumping it forward. it was just bad to watch today really, go to the diamond and attack the opposition screw conceding really because I just want to see UA playing like earlier in the season. Schneiderlin was just brilliant today, we should be looking at him like Hammy always says. I hope we can improve for the QPR match

QPR are decent(ish) at home, if we play like that next week it'll probably be another away draw at best. I agree we appear too tentative, the Leicester result shocked him, he put that down to the formation we played and a lack of balance, meaning he changed the formation. I put it down to just one of those freak results as for 60 minutes we played as well as we have done all season. I'd rather watch us win 4-3 every week than watch us look so toothless and as I say tentative when going forward. The wing backs aren't playing as wing backs for me, they're often too far back to influence the attacking third of the field, the only wing back who has done the full job properly has been Young, which is incredible to say.
I just want him to ditch the fucking 3-5-2, give Herrera more game time instead of Mata, play Rooney further forward and Di Maria deeper. I'm convinced the performances will improve.

I didn't see the game so I can't comment too much but if today's game is anything like our last 10 games then it's so ficking predictable I feel I can comment. I see by Jaimes comments we once again played 3-5-2. When will he learn? Playing Rooney in CM and Di Maria so far forward continues to be a diabolical decision. Just by changing the 2 of them would make us a much more potent force. Rooney is a much better striker than CM just like Di Maria is much better playing deeper in the middle. Out on the wing or as striker he isn't half the player. It isn't fucking rocket science but still we continue. I still think if we played with 4 at the back (like 99.9% of us) Carrick, Herrera and Di Maria as CM with RVP and Rooney as forwards we would see a different Mata but as VG seems as stupid as he is stubborn it's looking like we will keep seeing an average Mata when we all know he is a classy player. I said it months ago and I'll say it again. Play your fucking best players in their best positions Van Gaal if not we will continue to see incompetent performances from our players and will be lucky to finish with a European spot never mind CL.

Yeah QPR is decent at home, I say play a similar team to the one that played the reverse fixture, with Falcao coming in for RvP, Carrick for Blind, Shaw at LB, Jones and Rojo. I just have a sneaky feeling he will bring back Fellaini back in the lineup again and that won't do anything for our tempo and movement in midfield. Since we will be away we can play a midfield four of Carrick, Herrera, Blind and Di Maria.

Earlier in the season I'd have said no to Carrick and Blind in the same cm as they're both too similar but I think Blind has the ability to play in the midfield 2 of the diamond. I'd be inclined to have Carrick sitting, Blind and Herrera in front of him and Di Maria a little further forward given the freedom to roam and cause havoc, then whoever is fit to start up front. I'm also not overly fussed about Fellaini, as long as we switch to a variation of a 4-4-2 he can play without me being too annoyed, in his case I'd stick him as the furthest forward of the midfield 4 and drop Di Maria further back at the expense of Blind or Carrick.
The truth is we have a large squad full of quality players, if it isn't working, which it isn't at them minute...especially going forward, the manager should be looking to change it up.

For the first time all season so far, I found myself really upset during and after one of our games and shouting at the TV throughout. A terrible display from class players with no shot on target for the 90 at home. First time I was utterly pissed off after a game so far under LVG. RVP and Di maria subbed, ok some games RVP should've been subbed and wasn't, but Di Maria off for the one and only Fellaini bemused me.
