I still remember our frustration when he was being benched. Good times....

He was wasteful at the beginning of the season so I'm really happy that he earned his spot in the first team, just proves that he's not only a natural but a hard worker as well

Without it, he'd still be a bench warmer. It's fantastic how that turned out quite opposite, shows the right mentality of the player.

Herrera admits Louis van Gaal’s “character” was shocking at firstManchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has revealed all about his manager Louis van Gaal, explaining how he respects the players and dislikes egos, reports The Express. The 25-year-old has become a key player in United’s current renaissance, which has seen them rise to third in the Premier League, despite a largely unpredictable season where they have struggled to maintain a spell of good results. The Dutch coach, who replaced David Moyes in the summer, took his time to settle in and enforce his methods but Herrera believes that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich man has everyone’s best intentions at heart. “The manager has to decide who is playing or not but we have to respect always the decision he makes. The manager wants the best for the team, the best for us and we have to follow him always,” he said. “Van Gaal keeps his distance from us, but he strikes me as a good guy. His character may seem a bit shocking at first, but he has a good heart. “He likes discipline and doesn’t believe in big egos in the dressing room – he treats us all equally. He just tells what he wants me to do. He likes us to keep possession for long spells and wait for spaces to open up as we have the quality to exploit them.” Alongside the likes of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini, Herrera has formed a dominant midfield three, which has helped see off the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in recent games. In their last match against Aston Villa, Herrera scored twice in a 3-1 victory, moving him on to five goals for the season from just a 36% shot accuracy - the fourth lowest at the club. On Sunday they take on rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford and having now moved above them in the table, Van Gaal will be looking to extract revenge upon Manuel Pellegrini’s team for the 1-0 loss they suffered earlier in the campaign at the Etihad. www.squawka.com/news/herrera-admits-louis-van-gaals-character-was-shocking-at-first/351856________________________________________________________________________________ Explains perfectly why someone like Maradona, Ribery and Stoichkov dislikes him.

Good interview with him at the awards ceremony. Talking about how much he still has to improve yet, his first season was good but he wants more and expects us to challenge for everything next season.
Also liked his response to a question about how English football compares and has it surprised him. He just simply said.. " To me, football is football, wherever you play."
Love his attitude and think he's going to develop into a superb player for us. One of my favourite players at the club right now, not just for his football but for how he comes across off the pitch.

Yeah, really enjoyed that interview. His English has gotten a lot better too. I'd pick him for signing of the season

If he plays and scores today he'd have scored as many league goals in his first season with us as he did in 3 seasons at Athletic.

If a player like Herrera would want to leave the club, I would seriously consider getting rid of LVG ASAP. He has everything you would wish for as a player, with a perfect attitude and spirit.
I didn't give a shit about all the players whom LVG axed last summer, not even Di Maria who didn't show enough commitment and efforts, but losing Herrera would place me in the LVG-OUT camp. Hopefully this is just a silly rumour.
