As a man and as a player, I love him. I hope he stays. I really do.

I highly doubt he's going to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Not a chance in hell this little magician leaves us any time soon!
Another great game for him today vs Villa, another assist which makes it 35th from that tweet above.

Ohh you wanna read the wankers out there, they're all at it, it's full open season. I can't wait till 1) the end of the window and then 2) xmas time so I can shove it all up their arse and see them squirm 180, they make me fuckin sick.
Mourinho sold him because of pace and tracking back, wanted better mobility, fuck all to do with anything else.

Aye, if there's one thing Mata has in abundance it's class. In the right formation and in the correct position he's a fantastic footballer and an asset to any side. In an unsuitable formation and the incorrect position he's still a great player and in my eyes a match winner. Just look at the Villa game, I thought he was largely ineffective but he came up with the defence splitting pass that essentially won us the game.

Today he was classy as well, our best openings came through him. City are setup for Silva but he's a passenger in Europe, Coutinho is nowhere near those three and that's being nice.

He's now scored as many league goals for us (18) as he did for Chelsea. He's done it in 27 less games than he did at Chelsea as well.
He's a strange player at times. Seems to float through some games without being greatly involved but manages to tot up great statistics in terms of goals and assists.
He's a genuine match winner for me, doesn't need to have the greatest game in the world but more often than not comes up with a moment, whether it be a shot or a pass, that gets us a goal.

Yeah I agree. Despite all his qualities, I've been left kind of frustrated by Mata as I always have the feeling he doesn't bring enough to the side, either in terms of pace, or dribbling, or beating his man, or being a rock solid winger who owns his flank like Valencia used to do etc. But at the same time I am baffled because he always seems to pop up and get his goals and assists so regularly. In that perspective, he is very much what LVG wants I guess: not flashy, just offering movements, availablity, discipline, tactical awareness, AND that killer instinct at the right time, that final touch at the right place. Mata isn't the type to waste many chances, and when the attack is well executed, when the moves around him are right, he will always be there to provide that final ball or put it at the back of the net. Think about Liverpool away last season, City at home last season, Swansea away, Southampton away (third goal), Sunderland yesterday, and so many more I am sure. Mata isn't your traditional match winner, but he is incredibly effective in his own way. Speaking about that, I really like his partnership with Valencia on that right flank. I think both players complement each other perfectly.

MATA: WHY OVERSEAS STARS SHOULD PLAY HERE With the transfer window open until 1 February, Manchester United's Juan Mata has emphasised his passion for English football and encouraged other overseas stars to play in England. The Spaniard is approaching the second anniversary of his mid-season transfer from Chelsea, the club he joined from Valencia in August 2011, and he loves the game, the culture and lifestyle in England more than ever. During an exclusive interview for the new issue of Inside United magazine, our creative no.8 admits he has become a confirmed Anglophile at Old Trafford. “I enjoy everything about football in this country,” says Juan, as part of a six-page exclusive interview. “Since the moment I came over here more than four years ago, I have enjoyed every minute. I think it’s a great experience to play football here and I always say the same. “I would advise any player in the world to try to play in the Premier League for at least one season and realise how big and how massive football is in this country. We’re talking about respect from fans, great organisation in the league… I really like it.” As well as discussing his favourite parts of English life and culture – revealing his love of a meat pie, country pubs and The Kinks – Mata also discusses the best atmospheres he's experienced and, unsurprisingly, the midfield maestro names this weekend’s opponents Liverpool alongside one other fierce rival. “It's probably when we have played Liverpool or Manchester City at home,” Mata says. “Last season, we beat them both at Old Trafford and they were some of my best memories because the crowd went crazy for our goals, celebrating our success against our big rivals. “We do feel the difference in atmosphere. They are the two big games when you can feel a different atmosphere with the fans and feel how much those matches mean."
