Or negotiating his leaving settlement ?
If (as rumoured) we paid £4 mio to keep José unemployed until the end of the season maybe LVG wants a bigger piece of the pie as well
Not very classy all this ................

There's some rumours knocking about that Keano could be involved. Surely bullshit.

Yep for sure Keano must be bullshit
How wrong did we get this ............. surely other heads should be rolling ..............
- Manchester United should be ashamed of the indecent and unedifying circus of LVG's departure. A shoddy way to treat anyone. - Still no statement from Man Utd. Woeful comms not helped by absent & silent owners, and a barely visible executive vice chairman. - As a lifelong Manchester United fan, the treatment of LVG by the club/media this weekend has been disgraceful. Jose isn't the solution in my opinion. - Sounds like Woodward actually told LVG in person last night that he was sacked. - Think Louis van Gaal had to go but deserved better communication. Will miss his personality and trust in youth.

I'm over the moon that VG is going, I cannot stand him either as a man nor manager but I have to admit there's no way he should be treated like this, although sympathy does ebb a bit hearing he's (supposedly) going to get a £5m payout for fucking off. All that's happening now and for the last 3 seasons shows that Woodward doesn't have the foggiest how to run the club. Never, ever should of been put in the position in the first place. But since the Glazers trust him 100% what's woody going to do? Sack himself? Woodward has made the Glazers hundreds of millions which is why 1) He got the job in the first place and 2)he's got a get out of jail free card with everything that's happened since his appointment. Brilliant as a numbers man but a rank amateur in his present position which is more than unacceptable at a club like United.

Treated like what exactly?
It is pretty funny fans and Journo's now saying they are feeling sympathetic to LVG when they've been hounding him out since the start of the season. Pull the other one.
The club have said nothing, maybe he didn't truly know on Saturday but I doubt he would be blissfully unaware. The club probably wanted LVG to enjoy his triumph like any worthwhile human being would, what on earth do we have to gain from Mourinho stories overshadowing our FA Cup victory. This is all Mendes and his cronies playing to the media who just couldn't wait to stick the knife in.

I agree Dave but Woodward is still a clueless cunt.

LVG had to go. This was all too clear with the shit way we had been playing, even more so with so poor results despite massive investment.
That being said, not everything went wrong under LVG. Whether he had to or wanted to, he introduced many promising youngsters and deserves credits for having sticked to them afterwards.
He had my full support when he started, unfortunately it seems he never quite understood that his philosophy was no match to the intensity of this league. We have seen improvement in possession, composure, tactical awareness, but all that was useless because we never showed the intensity and spontaneity to kill games and teams, and that's how this league works as well. We were too cautious, too practical, too shy to ever threaten even the poorest sides of the English leagues. And that was massively exposed with our lack of senior, deadly strikers.
At the end of the day, he himself made the wrong decisions, and once again I believe his stubborness and refusal to adjust his methods cost him his job. I think the worst part is that we truly had a good nucleus of players, and imo he failed to get the best out of many individuals like Herrera, Schneiderlin, or Memphis among others. While we all know Mourinho's potential issues, I believe he will make a completely different use of the force in each individual, making us in fact a stronger team, more direct, more lethal, ready to jump at the throat of our opponents.
I don't know if I will have the same thoughts in a couple of years time, but right now I am looking forward to Manchester United under Mourinho, I am looking forward to finally have a winner back in charge. Not for silverware as such, but for the pleasure of watching my team fight harder each game, give it all on the pitch and show some grit. Wait! Has Mourinho been appointed yet?

Louis van Gaal statement
It has been an honour to manage such a magnificent club as Manchester United FC, and in doing so, I have fulfilled a long-held ambition.
I am immensely proud to have helped United win the FA Cup for the 12th time in the club’s history. I have been privileged during my management career to have won 20 trophies but winning the FA Cup, which is steeped in so much history, will always be one of the most special achievements of my career.
I am very disappointed to be unable to complete our intended three-year plan. I believe that the foundations are firmly in place to enable the club to move forward and achieve even greater success.
I hope that winning the FA Cup will give the club a platform to build upon next season to restore the success that this passionate set of fans desire.
Having managed in Holland, Spain and Germany, I had always hoped for the opportunity to manage in English football and be part of English culture. Both of these experiences have lived up to expectations and been fantastic.
I thank my players and wish them well for next season. It has been a pleasure to work with them and it has been particularly rewarding to see so many young players take their chance to break into the first team and excel. I look forward to watching the continued development of these young players next season.
Thank you to the owners and board of Manchester United for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club.

Louis van Gaal is to leave Manchester United, with immediate effect.
Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: “I would like to thank Louis and his staff for their excellent work in the past two years culminating in winning a record-equalling 12th FA Cup for the club (and securing him a title in four different countries). He has behaved with great professionalism and dignity throughout his time here. He leaves us with a legacy of having given several young players the confidence to show their ability on the highest stage. Everyone at the club wishes him all the best in the future.”
A decision on a successor as manager will be announced soon.

Dignified comments from Louis, seems like it wasn't an acrimonious end.
