Pre Season is over and the big kick off is mere days away so I'm curious to see how you are all feeling about the season ahead. Expectations, aspirations, any concerns etc.
Keep this to the squad in its current state please, I know we are a couple players short and will likely make an addition or two but try not to include fantasy transfers.
For me a successful season would be a worthwhile title challenge, top three minimum, quarters CL and maybe a cup.
Mourinho has a very good record in his second season, the squad has had a year working with him and have been successful with trophies in that time not to mention the investment so I'm hopeful that we'll see an improvement this time around. I think the title will be tough, there is a lot of good sides that could possibly win it but other commitments may get in the way so maybe we could sneak it.
We're hard to beat, we've added even more physical specimens to the team and Mourinho is going to try to bully his way to the title beating the cannon fodder and scraping the odd win against the top 6. It won't be pretty and I'm not sure we'll pull it off but we need to put in a fight at least. The lack of goals is a worry and our attacking approach doesn't seem to have changed much from last season, no real patterns to our play, not enough numbers, lack of fluidity but hopefully he can sort his problems with Martial and that the addition of Matic does actually free up Pogba to ease these issues.

The past seasons have teached us not to get carried away. The first game was a convincing display but we have to prove that again and again this season.
I'd say 3rd is realistic.
First of all because we are still one world-class player short on the wings. A lot will depend on Martial and Mkhitaryan having a good season and making up for that.
Then there is Mourinhos overcautious (to not say defensive minded) approach to games. We are still not pressing properly. Other teams are ahead of us there. Especially Spurs with a modern coach but also Watford looked miles ahead of us when troubling Liverpool in the first half before individual errores have cost them. The more young managers come to the PL the more Mourinho gets into trouble with not adapting to up to date tactics.
Hopefully our first game of the season was a sign he has finally understood this and that we have to kill games and not stop attacking once 1:0 up like on too many occasions last term.
