Lindegaard Rafael -- Smalling -- McNair -- Shaw Carrick Herrera - Di Maria Rooney van Persie -- Falcao Mata for Falcao if he's not fit, fuck knows for Carrick if he's not fit, fuck knows for Rafa if he's not fit, hope Dave is fit because I don't really trust Lindegaard. Fuck knows might have a big part to play on Saturday.

Don't think Dave will be fit for a few weeks at the very least.

It's only his little finger, strap him up and get him out there.

same thing I've been saying about all of these injuries... Rojo's shoulder? Pop that thing back into place and keep it moving. If I can do it, he can do it.

It does make me wonder about the medical facility at Carrington. I'm sure it's all state of the art and can detect injuries that we couldn't before and so on, but has it also led to us wanting to make sure all players were absolutely 100% before we pass them fit to play?
You'll find plenty of players who'll play through the pain when they're only 70/80% fit - is the technology we've now got not allowing us to do that?

I would think that does play a role... I'm not sure how significant that role is though. If we're requiring 100% fitness then we'll be down to 8 players or so by February! I don't have any comparison data, but I know players play hurt. Surely the team physician is capable of making the determination that at 80% fit the player is not likely to injure himself catastrophically. Certain injuries have to be treated differently for obvious reasons, but some of the "injuries" I've been reading about wouldn't even be enough for a substitution 20 years ago. Now is that progression to a higher medical standard or are we protecting players too much? I think there's got to be some room in between. I'd have hardly ever played if I only suited up when I was 100% fit.
