Thinks he can be the best player in the world but knows that he has to work hard to achieve this. Yep, as I have kept saying over the years, especially since Ronaldo and Tevez left: we have too many gentle players. It's about time we get a couple of arrogant/aggressive faces, a couple of killers like Hazard, Robben, Messi, etc. and Depay has the potential to be just that. Even more now that many teams will be parking the bus. As much as I like Young and Mata, or Januzaj, or even Di Maria, they have failed to offer a major threat on a consistent basis. Now teams will be afraid to just concede a free kick, or to defend recklessly because they know it will be a foul, etc. That's also part of modern football. Depay still has a lot to learn, and I am willing to be patient until he finds his feet (if necessary of course you never know he might fit in straight away). But I am sure he has the guts, confidence, and willingness to achieve great things, and I like your comparison with Ronaldo in that regard. But there is still a long way to go I think.

I know VG has some sort relationship with Memphis and the PSV management but in this deal and the ones for Blind and Falcao I an impressed at the speed it took to see them through, less than 48 hours of being linked and having serious interest and they are signed. That is very impressive in my opinion and Chelsea like which is what we should be doing. I am also starting to believe the rumour of him wanting all his players before June 30th. Even with Van Gaal admitting that he wanted to sign him after the season, but was forced to do it now because of PSG interest, makes me admire the guy's decisiveness. It brought flashbacks from last year when all of us were wondering whether players would want to join with a manager like Moyes. I'd give up the excitement of deadline day if it means we do all our business before the tour.

I'd give up the excitement of deadline day if it means we do all our business before the tour. I have always preferred when we do our business early and let the new guys settle in, having pre-season games under their belt. I hope LVG will do his business very early, so that the team is almost complete (or complete) when we go on tour. Besides, assuming we reach the 4th place, we will have an early decisive qualifying tie for the CL. I believe LVG will want to field his strongest team, with his new recruits ready.

Deadweight after 1 season.... by that reasoning he'd have probably had Ashley Young murdered for his previous few years of performances. Well in that case we shouldn't have sold Kagawa. He was excellent in his first stint with Dortmund with double digit assists and goals . It goes both way to be honest if we start comparing players. ADM is a deadweight in the second part of our season whether people like it or not. I don't really care about reputation alone. Let's just see what ADM has to offer next season if he's still around to shut people like myself up.

Struggling to see how Kagawa is remotely similar to Di Maria and what on earth his Dortmund record has to do with anything. Kagawa had 2 seasons to prove himself here as well as a full pre season for the manager to see what he had. He decided to get rid. Di Maria has had 1 season and at least at the start of the season showed what he was capable of and impressed more than Kagawa ever did in 2 seasons.
By all means if he's terrible next season I'll be calling for him to be sold but to refer to him as deadweight already isn't just ridiculous, it's incorrect.

I absolutely loved Kagawa like I did Berbatov but my God, I always hoped he would do it this week every weekend, he was poor to be fair and very very safe. Yeah, on some Champions league group games he wasn't bad last season but the standard last season in the team was poor. He lacks risk, strength and even he offers some defensive help, he was offering nothing when he was here.
di Maria will come good and hopefully he will prove you wrong which will be a win-win situation. By the way according to some sources on Twitter we are close to signing clyne for £18M not bad.

I've seen it as well. Clyne is maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but there are many, many games in the BPL where he would be very useful. He has lots of things to improve on, but I think he offers solidity at the back.

I hope so as well with ADM. However, just like Matt, I doubt he will still be with us next season. He might be involved in some player trade deals we will be having with other clubs. On the Clyne deal, hope it's true. 18mil would be a steal imo. That should be the price for Luke Shaw as well. Definitely paid too much for him and we weren't really desperate for a leftback at that time with Evra still around.

I don't see a point in buying a 60m player and getting rid of him after one season.

At this point in time, let's just stop speculating about ADM. It's just going in circles. We will know come next summer.

How many of his goals came from free kicks?
