When Rooney's back I could see him up front with Memphis and Martial either side of him. Mata isn't setting the world alight out wide atm and having 2 guys on the flanks with out and out pace and power is very appealing and could be what's needed to kick the attacking end of the pitch into gear and break down defences. Yeah I could very much see that happen, but I also expect us to field that attacking line up at times as imo Rooney will be more useful having those 3 players around him: they'd offerhim pace, technique, movement and quality to exploit: Martial Depay - Rooney - Mata

Very happy about him, at least now he'll shut the critics up for a bit and take some pressure off his shoulders. Can't wait to see him play again

what a fantastic goal, on debut also against liverpool, pressure what pressure, he was supremely cool and composed in that movement and made skertel look foolish now i know why we paid the money for him, if he keeps this up he will be that world class player we need Let's not get carried away. Remember Kiko macheda against Villa a couple of years ago? Hopefully the pressure and expectations does not get the best out of him. A good start nonetheless. don't think we gave kiko the chances he deserved, because he was class then, i still remember the day he ripped Boro a new one (this was when they were still in the prem)

Why do people keep comparing him to Macheda? It's nothing like that situation.

We gave him enough chances and opportunities to shine. Just didn't take it.

Just didn't take it. like when he was 18 and we didn't give him a lot of chances at the club, we basically just loaned him out to a million and one clubs before selling him

Let the comparisons begin! Henry had carried the ball from him own half for that goal though so not quite there yet. I absolutely loved his goal on Saturday though, everything about it was perfect and I've not heard Old Trafford explode with noise like that since we took the lead against Madrid in Ferguson's last season. It was beautiful moment.

Yeah I haven't celebrated a goal like that since Owen's winner against City. It was truly special. My throat is paying for it now though.

Absolutely love that video with just the crowd, the "GO ON" as he shoots is unreal. I can't stop watching it.

Has now scored the same amount of goals in 2 starts and 2 sub appearances as Falcao did all last season... Shows big name signings aren't always a necessity.
