Straight from Mourinho. “It’s difficult because if Mata is on the bench you tell me I want to kick him out. If I don’t play Martial its because he is in crisis or Ashley Young, it’s because I don’t like Ashley Young. Or Memphis Depay is not playing because he is on his way out."

I'm getting pissed off with all the articles "What can Martial do to get his career back on track", "Martial not shining" etc. We are 3 fucking games into the season and he has started all of them. He also played for France. And he's also 20.

‘You have one opportunity, you have two, you have three - if you don’t bite then somebody comes and takes the bait,’ Mourinho said. ‘Anthony was OK for Feyenoord. I cannot play with 12 players.
‘The players have to win their positions. They are friends, they are colleagues who work together every day but in the end they compete between themselves to have more chance to play. Anthony played against Arsenal. Thursday was a moment to give Mkhitaryan a chance to start.’
Is it just me or is Mourinho saying Martial didn't take the bait so now it's Micky's turn?

Pretty much. He'll do exactly the same with all those who are slacking as he has done to Miki by the looks of it. Martial needs to take his head out of his ass and start taking things seriously and grow up a little, starting with his personal life, time to grow up. That move, first season and girls definitely 'reorientated' his head from when he first got here and was hungry.

Aye, was watching back some of his games from last season and the difference is stark. You'd thought under Mou he'd have more freedom but he seems to be playing it safe this season and constantly hugging the touch line which isn't his game at all, I think we've seen similar with Rashford so in part got to be down to tactics.
A mixture of factors, his personal life, managerial change and second season etc. still very young so and extremely talented so just needs to get his head straight and as you say get that hunger back.

................. and they took the number 9 off him
Yes it's been a disappointing start to the season for Martial he looked sluggish against Arsenal and he's not making the right choices with his runs, dribbles nothing seem to work for him. He was trying hard and tracked back for the team but it had none of the spark from last year
Mou also said he was probably more suited to the LVG set-up last season .........which it a bit hard ..... what's the hidden message there then and how does that help Martial to adapt ?
I hope he can work through this and show the form we all know he has ................. that goal against Liverpool .......still love watching that
Come on Anthony get your mojo back

Well it seems like he did. Hope it stays like that, we've really missed his pace and creativity

Yep, much more like his old self yesterday Taking on his men at will with some tricks thrown in, his off the ball movement was fantastic constantly drifting into central areas where he's at his best rather than hugging the touchline and getting into the box much more which saw him reap the rewards with his goals. That first one was a sublime finish and the second again that desire to get into the box, has his hunger back by the looks of it and long may it continue.

Can I just say that I'm getting a little fed up with the whole 'poor Martial' theme that the papers are trying to force on everyone. "Martial is not happy at United"- well, duh, obviously! There has never been a player at the top level that is happy with sitting on the bench. Apart maybe from Lindegaard, who was surprisingly happy to be No. 2. The manager's job is to select his best players and the players' job is to convince him that they are the best for this position, which I don't think he has done. I do agree that he should start more games, but he and Shaw need to stop whining and take Mkhitaryan and Rashford's example - hard work would get you there

Saw some stats Lingard, roo, mata mikhy etc all run more miles per game than Martial only Zlatan clocks up less than Anthony
I am really fed up with this as well......plus he looks sulky. Mou praises often the work ethic of many players who have less selections than Martial ........ so you have to think that he's not showing the right effort required in training.
hard to see how he can stay to be honest ...... it's getting to the point of no return....... maybe that's what Martial and the convenient "sources close to the player" want.

If he doesn't start today then it's probably curtains.
It's the double standards and the point that he shouldn't be on the bench which is the problem, Martial has been coming into form over the past two months and has been one of our most productive players in a period where we are struggling for goals no less yet you've got Mourinho dropping him left and right demoting him to cup games. Even after performing well in said cup games he isn't getting a kick.
Mourinho only has one man management style and it doesn't appear to be working, even after the Wigan game he couldn't bare to give him any praise and had to beat him. This nonsense is costing us goals and points at the minute.

MOURINHO: MARTIAL WILL IMPROVE THIS SEASON Jose Mourinho has expressed his total faith in Anthony Martial and backed the Manchester United forward to become a better player throughout the season. Martial was a revelation during his first campaign with the Reds, in 2015/16, when he scored 17 goals in 49 appearances. His second term was less successful on an individual basis, after scoring eight times in 42 games, but he did lift the FA Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League. The 21-year-old completed his first pre-season training camp with United over the summer and that appears to be paying dividends on the pitch, following a number of impressive performances in friendlies and his excellent finish in last weekend’s 4-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League. “I have faith in him,” Mourinho said of Martial. “Probably, the player I was looking at [in the transfer market] was not a pure winger, because I have pure wingers. The player I was looking for would allow me to play three at the back and do the wing-backs. As a pure attacking player, Martial is a good player. “He is one of the players who will have a better season than last season. I look at my players and I am sure some will be better than they were last season, and Anthony is one of those, for sure.” Mourinho has assembled a young squad and, like Martial, he expects them all to get better as time goes on. The experience of playing in the Champions League - some for the first time - will also benefit them. “They’re all young,” Mourinho explained during his pre-match press conference. “Micki and Mata are close to their 30s. Romelu is 24, Lingard and Rashford are a good age and they’re all playing. They are also national team players with the chance to play international games. “We are in the Champions League, so it is the first time for Rashford to play Champions League. Anthony had a bit with Monaco, Lingard had a few matches but not more than that. For Romelu, it is the first time. For them, the Champions league can be a great experience with their development.” www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2017/Aug/Jose-Mourinho-has-faith-in-Anthony-Martial-and-expects-improvement-this-season.aspxGood to hear, guess we were looking at Perisic to play the wing back role as well.

One can hope, at times he looks brilliant and he genuinely looks world class. If we're not getting a winger i hope he sticks with him on the left side and he gets in a lot of games. He can cut in and him being a striker (primarily) may help with the goals. We need someone getting 15 goals or there abouts aside from Lukaku and i think Martial could get around that much if he's on form.
