So not injured in training - during the match
‘NO TIMEFRAME ON ROONEY’
Louis van Gaal is refusing to put any timeframe on Wayne Rooney’s return to action. "It's difficult to say but he's injured in the game versus Sunderland and has a knee problem,” he said. “We have to wait and see how long that takes. I cannot say.”
Van Gaal added: "That's also typical Wayne. He's a guy who wants to go until the end and if he is feeling pain, he doesn't want to go away, and certainly when you are drawing a match because he wants to win. "That's a fantastic attitude but also it's bad for his body. You do not know when it happened, so that's the difficulty."

Dang it.
Big blow for everyone as he's been in good form of late, is a key player and leader in this team. We'll have to see how we are affected in the next few games, chance for others to step up now Memphis, Keane, Januzaj and/or recall Wilson.
You'd expect Martial to go up top, hopefully his goals can keep us going but others need to really start contributing.

Well we were all calling for him to be dropped earlier in the season as we thought we have better options. Time for some of these players to step up and prove us all right.

its bad for rooney but i don't see it as a huge loss, at the end of the day it does force (should never have come down to this) LVG to finally use Keane

Finally use Keane? You mean Keane who's been on loan at Preston for most of the season, only scoring 1 goal? Nobody gave a fuck about Keane (me included) until he came back here and has been in great goal scoring form for the U21's. He's literally had no reason to use him until now.

You might get away with using youth against Midgetland but you won't against some of the other sides. Martial is the only player capable of filling an in form Rooney's boots at the top level. Should be a good opportunity for some to get game time though.

I would definitely think about putting Memphis there and keep Martial out on the left where he's been so dangerous of late. One of Memphis' best performances of the season came, for me, when he played up front against Watford. Has the power, has the speed and he's a pretty good finisher.
I also think it takes a bit of pressure off him as he's not expected to track back or be overly creative.

We can absolutely give Keane a chance, but I don't think it's gonna be anywhere near a starting XI, maybe as a sub. Or against Shrewsbury? Memphis or Martial would be the logical choices, why not Pereira and I think even Rashford made the bench this season so there's that. I'm way more worried about who's gonna cover defense rather than up front as we have quite a few options there

Well may as well give him a chance now, i mean for him its more a now or never thing, if he doesn't score for us by all means sell him on, but we need to at least take a gamble on the lad and see if he can bang in the goals. because no one at the club seems to be able to do it on a consistent basis (maybe martial aside)

played well there and the 4-3-3 with one holding mid is the way forward for us, as I say since the start of the season. Unfortunately it took Louis till April to get it.

It very much depends on the setup and the players around him, but he slotted nicely into this one now and has been good ever since he came back so I have no complains
