Probably the player to suffer the most with our new signings which is a shame because he is a class act. Got to take his chances when given to him. Something he hasn't done to full effect so far this season.

What happens with the lad in the coming weeks against all those top sides? Can we assume he plays?

Was fantastic against Spurs, which is very encouraging to see. He clearly proved that he has the quality if given the chance....

You just must love the git!
Nothing "arguably" about that first half, the best by a mile in two seasons, Hwan!
I'd like if he plays again vs Pool but I'm afraid we'll set up more conservatively. If he's to be dropped, it must be from the tactical point of view after that excellent game from him. I hope not and he plays tho, from the same position again, linking with Herrera and Valencia.

What a difference 2 weeks makes. From being out of the side and a player being marked by me as potentially leaving in the summer to his last 2 displays and proving exactly what he's capable of. Never doubted his ability, just whether he could fit into the side.
Superb goals from him today but that wasn't all, everything he did was top quality. Just his all round calmness in possession is great to watch when he's at his free-flowing best. The telepathic relationship he has with Herrera is great to see as well.

Exactly. Those two plus a new man (van Gaal will know who I'm sure) is maybe the future of our links between the right side and the center. His intelligence, when backed up with good understanding and movements from his team mates is an immensely needed quality to have.

It's all about the triangles! If you say so. It was so many of them created again. No triangles > no domination!

One of the reason Mata is growing is Herrera's introduction to the side. A player like Mata can only be effective if he has the right movements and passing around him, which he didn't have under Moyes and early in the season.
Up until late, and even more so under Moyes, it was like we expected Mata to tear defences apart all by himself, only he doesn't have pace and much power: Mata can only be a piece of a machine, and Herrera is like the complementary piece to make that machine work.
I have immense respect for Mata, because the situation he was in was far from easy, and yet he delivered brilliantly in those two difficult games.
