Can't believe we don't have a thread for Giggsy ?? - Is this really the case if not then please merge Hope this has no truth in it - If yes then I would be worried Louis van Gaal to talk to Ryan Giggs over Swansea linkManchester United boss Louis van Gaal says he will speak to his assistant Ryan Giggs about reports linking him to Swansea's managerial vacancy. Giggs is one of a number of names being linked with the job following Garry Monk's departure from the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday. "First I have to speak to Ryan Giggs by himself if it's true," Van Gaal said. "And [in that case], he's coming to me. I cannot speak about 'if'. The 'if' situations." Harry Redknapp, the former West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham manager, wrote on his Twitter account: "Hearing talk of Giggsy for the Swansea job. "It'd be a big step up, not easy to manage a Prem club. Garry Monk will have learnt an awful lot." Former United manager David Moyes has ruled himself out of the running but one man who Sky sources understand is interested is Gus Poyet. www.skysports.com/football/news/11731/10096134/louis-van-gaal-to-talk-to-ryan-giggs-over-swansea-link

It just makes no sense whatsoever to sack Monk to bring in an even less experienced manager as Swansea could well end up in a relegation battle, seems like paper talk to me. I don't think their fans would be happy at all and it probably wouldn't be the right move for Giggs either.

Can't see it happening or should I say for Giggs' sake I hope it doesn't happen. He's just not ready and they need a manager who has been through a relegation dogfight before, Pearson maybe.

Oh he's ready alright - just not for a club that's in a relegation dog fight. Agreed, too ludicrous to consider.

Would you rather him manage Swansea or us?

Ideally go and get experience at another club, but preferably not a club in a relegation dog fight. Unless the board have seen such outstanding potential that they make him manager..............and I just can't see the Glazers going for it.

I think they'd be a good move personally. OK they're struggling for form at the minute but before the start of the season you'd have said they'd finish around 10th. I expect that whoever goes in there will safely steer them from trouble. Why not Giggsy?

Like Dave says; why sack Monk and go for someone less experienced like Giggs? Just makes no sense, but who knows.

On Swansea's part yeah, it would be a strange move, I think Monk would've turned it around personally and should've been given more time. But for Giggs I think it'd be a good move.

It wasn't long ago that Ole was touted for the job here, he was offered an attractive proposition by Cardiff, a Premiership club early on in his managerial career he felt too good to turn down. In the hope that he could build his own team, implement his ethos and play attractive football but you can't do that when you are fighting relegation.
I see a lot of similarities with this one, just too big a risk. Giggs should wait till the end of the season, then he has time to settle into a job and do his thing.
From Swansea's point of view it doesn't make any sense as I say, from Giggs' point of view if he fails there then it would damage his chances of managing here.

Do it at the start of a season with a clean slate and a clean run at things, not midway through a season staring at the drop. Why disadvantage yourself and get tagged so early on?
I don't rate Nev's chances much for the same reason either. He's in a worse situ because he doesn't speak the language yet either. But I also think Nev's got more about him than Giggs when it comes to getting things across, Far more articulate and eloquent, those skills help in man management.
Shame he can't use it yet to any effect until he leans Spanish.

What kind of club are we expecting him to get a job at then? Would midtable clubs like Stoke, West Ham etc take a punt on him if they needed a manager? I don't think so.
For me Swansea are much too good a side and a squad of players to be getting relegated. I think Monk would've comfortably turned it around and I think most manager's, experienced or with potential would steer them clear. If Giggs couldn't keep Swansea up then I'd be surprised and disappointed.
He'd then hopefully have a chance to prove himself in the Championship anyway which is realistically where he's sure to have loads of takers.

If, and it's a big if the rumours are true what's changed at the club? It's been very well documented that Giggs will be VGs replacement when the Dutchie goes. I think it would be too big a risk to send him to another club for a year to gain experience in case he fails. Could it be we have someone like Pep lined up already?

He could fail at any club. I'd accept him taking over straight from LVG but that's only because he knows the clubs inside out, then again it would still be a big risk and I'd prefer for him to earn his stripes elsewhere and get a bit of mileage.

I actually wouldn't be against him at all to take over. Would of preferred G.Neville but I'd be happy enough with Giggs if we can't get someone in the Pep category. Just seems a little strange to me. For the last 18 months we've been lead to believe it will be Giggs to take over then out of nowhere these rumours are starting. If they're true where does that leave Giggs? because the only way he'd accept is if United have told him he wouldn't be appointed when VG goes.
