I am old enough, 71 but nobody remembered my Birthday, to remember things like Gas Street Lights and a guy came around the neighbourhood each night with a long pole to turn them on and in the early morning to turn them off. Also the alarm clock was Charlie the Knocker Upper who you paid to bring his long pole and rattle your Bedroom window pane to get you up in the morning. Hence Mom and Dads bedroom was always at the front of the house so as Charlie had easy access. I can also remember when Muffin the Mule was not a Sexual Offence  |
