If van Gaal is truly interested I'd very much like if we sign him. Last season one of the best right backs in the league and would be an improvement on Valencia and a great competition for Rafa - improvement match fitness wise. This season he plays in a bit shitty Everton side (results and form of the whole team) and isn't proven at the big stage but anyway, the quality and talent is obvious.
Thoughts?

I'd take him as first choice. Rafa's unreliability is starting to get tiresome. To be honest, in terms of ability he's as good as Rafa if not better anyway.

As Jamie says Rafa's inconsistency and injuries are a problem, we need some quality competition in that role and have done for a while. No one has really cemented that spot since Neville, I'd happily take Coleman or Clyne.
I would be surprised if it happens in Jan though.
Everton aren't in a great position so we may well be able to persuade them to sell.

£25million is steep though, as Dave mentions above Clyne would also be a good option. I'd take either of them, expect Clyne would be a more reasonable price as well.
