We'll see what happens. I don't like to always be negative so I'm saying he's going to stay for at least the next 2 seasons, maybe more. Rumours flying about suggest him and Mendes were pissed off with the way Madrid went about it all summer and he now has a genuine desire to stay here, hopefully the rumours are spot on.
Either way he gets my respect because if he does go they'll have to cough up an even heftier fee. They look like utter bellends in the whole saga as well now which is also brilliant.

David De Gea has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United, keeping him at Old Trafford until at least 2019. There is an option to extend it for a further year.
The Spain international, 24, joined the Reds back in 2011 and has registered 175 appearances for the club, winning the Premier League title in 2013 and two Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year awards. David De Gea said: “I am delighted to be starting this new chapter in my United career. I have always enjoyed playing with these great players in front of our fantastic fans. Manchester United is a special club and Old Trafford is an ideal place for me to continue to develop my career. I’m looking forward to putting a difficult summer behind me and concentrating on working hard to improve and help my teammates to be successful.” Louis van Gaal said: “I am absolutely delighted David has signed a new contract. He is one of the best goalkeepers in world football. I am very pleased that he will be part of the team for many years to come. David made a very important contribution to our performance last season and he has been the club’s Player of the Year for the last two seasons. He is a popular player who is keen to learn and enhance his game. At such a young age for a goalkeeper, he has many years ahead of him.”

I'm much happier that we screwed them over than actually keeping one of the best goalkeepers in the world. My feelings are still hurt that he wanted to leave in the first place, but hope he starts playing because I wouldn't have to worry whether he'll let a ball slip underneath him. And with Courtois out for some time, we definitely have the best keeper in the league

Still can't believe some people are saying United embarrassed themselves. We definitely came out on top.
Fuck Madrid

Great news. We probably have to give Vicente Del Bosque a big thanks for starting him against Macedonia in their crucial Euro qualifier and saying De Gea needs to be playing week in, week out to have a chance of making the number one spot in the finals next year. Just the motivation he needed. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I can't really blame De Gea for wanting to go to Madrid. After all it is his home town so I won't hold anything against him. He could of returned to the club sulking and waited until January to move to Madrid, instead he came right back and signed a new 4 year deal which took a big pair of cojones to do so. I'm just wondering how much Perez really wanted him. Madrid are famous for signing at least one Galatico each year to appease the fans and this year it was to be De Gea. They had ample opportunity to do so but didn't take it and in the end they looked like right pricks so it wouldn't surprise me if De Gea decided to stay with us in the long term. If this summer helps push Perez out the door then I'll be over the moon. Along with Blatter he's one of the worst things to happen to football.

Some people are fuckstump cretins. Perez has managed to piss both player and agent off to an extent I didn't think was possible, he needs applauding....

So Schweinsteiger hands it over to De Gea after Rooney gave it to him on being substituted vs Ispwich.

DE GEA SENDS MANCHESTER UNITED FANS INTO PANIC WITH NEW FACEBOOK PROFILE PICTURE The Spaniard has removed the United crest on his latest picture, while the kit he's wearing bears a striking resemblance to Madrid's away goalkeeper's jersey EXTRA TIME David De Gea's latest profile picture may have sent Manchester United fans into a bit of a panic. The Spain international has been United's standout star once again this season as his superb saves continue to bail out Louis van Gaal's side, who are hardly pulling up trees with their attacking prowess. De Gea missed out on the chance to join Real Madrid in the summer, but his latest profile picture could send alarm bells ringing as two comments on Facebook point out that the image does not show United's badge, while the kit he's wearing happens to look like Madrid's away jersey. Of course, there's always an innocent explanation. In this case, both United and Madrid are sponsored by adidas, while United's home goalkeeper shirt happens to be a very similar colour and style to Madrid's away goalkeeper jersey.
