If it involves an agreement for Bale to come the other way it would soften the blow. Don't want to lose him, don't get me wrong but it's inevitably going to happen. Fortunately for us there's a lot of top goalkeepers around at the minute, Cech's agent said today that he's been given permission to speak to other clubs....

Cech's agent said today that he's been given permission to speak to other clubs.... I would very much like Cech. He is only 32, which is still young for a goalkeeper. As you said, losing De Gea to Madrid was always going to happen. But if this means we get Cech and Bale, I am sorry if I hurt anyone's feeling, but it's good business in my books. Cech is a top goalkeeper, not as promising as De Gea, and not in the same style, but an excellent goalkeeper nonetheless. Whereas a revigorated Bale as we know is a top attacker. I am curoous to see what will happen on that front. I am personally convinced we're going to lose De Gea, but I have no idea who will replace him.

Yeah it's disappointing but I geared myself up for this a while ago. I'm ready for him to go, as long as we get a good sum for him and an adequate replacement. There's plenty to choose from.
If he does go this summer Van Gaal may even choose to go with Valdes. He's not played a first team game for a year but he's got a great relationship with Van Gaal. I'd definitely be a little worried going into the season with Valdes as our number 1 keeper but we could be in a much worse position.

Even in his prime at Barcelona I never thought he was that great a goalkeeper (but don't get me wrong, I am not saying he is an awful goalkeeper either, certainly not). If De Gea goes, I think we should replace him properly.

Cech is never a realistic target, he himself had made it clear that he doesnt want a move to United. LVG has said he has a list of Goalkeepers to replace him, so just hope he has someone on mind already. I feel De Gea's move to Real Madrid is inevitable.

Of course he's realistic. He's going to be up for sale and we may be in the market for a new keeper. Regardless of what he's said in the past if he gets a chance to move to us and play Champions League football being our 1st choice keeper he'd be an idiot not to take it.

Everyone getting their knickers in a twist, don't know whether to boo or clap him if he goes, get a grip.
All this shit about we were patient with him and he should repay us as well, it will be a shame to lose him but this has been coming whether this year or next it's going to happen. We've offered him what we can, we can't force him to stay it's up to him now but we are prepared, Valdes is in if worst comes to worst.
If we can get Bale then all weighed up he'll win us more points tbh, get a decent keeper in as well, Cech would be best I think he's pretty solid all round but he apparently is happy in London so if Arsenal are in for him, not sure I'd fancy our chances. Louis said we've got someone lined up, there has been paper talk over Handanovic for a while so we shall see.
If Dave does go, he's goes and we move on. Good luck to him.

LVG says that he has already identified the next keeper

For him to be so confident about it I think we could be seeing Valdes take over if De Gea leaves.

Provided we come out of it stronger than we were, I'm fine with it all. You can mitigate a DDG loss to a certain extent by strengthening with a new CB and DM cover, get someone in just below DDG standard and you might still be ahead overall.
I wouldn't be depressed if it gives us Bale and Khedira (Gundogan wants Barca by all accounts).

Valdes looks like the most realistic one to take over - he and LVG have a good relationship, he's a good keeper and he's experienced enough going into CL next year. I really like Cech, but I'm not sure that's gonna happen. All of this hypothetical of course, IF De Gea leaves

lol. he means the board now won't sell because they can't get a satisfactory deal with Madrid (yet) and would rather let his contract run down.
