I'd love for him to stay , but if his heart isn't in it and he would rather be at Madrid then all the best , let's move on as a club and put him behind us. "Nobody is bigger than the club" still rings in my ears everytime I think about this DDG situation.

Put Cech in his place and get a strong CB and DM cover and we'll be fine. Not saying you won't notice the difference because you will but it will be well disguised for the most part.

just a bit disgusted that we are losing one of our best players, again to real madrid Fergie made sure we never sold anyone who hadn't jumped the shark already and had a better replacement lined up apart from Ronaldo. DDG will only be the second proper loss to Madrid - but what can you do when one of them was Portuguese and supported them from birth, and the other is actually Madrid born and bred. *shrugs*

That would be sacrilege

That's right Spens, I always believed that he was an Atletico fan and was holding onto that to convince myself that he wouldn't leave us for Real at all.

Unfortunately his bird is there and also from Madrid, and he looks as though he's looking to settle down. It's a cert he's going, either now, or at the end of next season. Looks like a stalemate between the two clubs at the moment and he could do next season, it's not like he's unhappy here though.

I know I wouldn't wanna be in his position right now. With all the pressure from United and the fans and on the other side the opportunity to play for Real and his family and girlfriend

I know I wouldn't wanna be in his position right now. True. But then I don't think I would feel sorry if I were to decide between becoming the goalkeeper of Real Madrid or Manchester United. Few can say they have had that privilege

De Gea's speech for PPoY award:
But really, I can't hate him for moving on. He wasn't troublesome while he was here. He was the exact opposite. He was professional and his performance was all he cared about. It'll hurt to see him go but he gave us a few good memories.

DDG will never get the sort of fan support he would at Real Madrid. lets face it they turn on all their players as soon as they do anything wrong (i.e. Bale's poor form, turned on him, Ronny throwing tantrums, turned) and they rarely give their players the cheers we do. De Gea might be one of the most loved players at the club right now, if not the most loved (rooney might have something to say about that though)

I think it's hard to look past the 2 other Spaniards in terms of being the most loved players at the club. Mata and Herrera are by far the 2 most likeable on and off the pitch for me. De Gea seems a little shy and miserable, maybe down to the fact he doesn't speak English as well as the other 2. Rooney is growing on fans again but still a lot can't forget what he's done in the past.
