1. If you had a choice to choose, who would it be and why?
2. Who of the two has the higher ceiling and who would suit us more?
3. Who do you think have a more chance to flop and why?
- Try to leave aside their price tags and wages they'd command, base your answers solely on players' attributes - mentality, football qualities, talent and suitability.

Depay, more on mentality, he seems to be the much more mature of the two. in terms of talent, they are both more even, with Depay maybe being a bit more skilful and sterling having more raw athleticism and potential. but he is still pretty immature and i'd imagine would cause us a few problems in the future either one would fit under LVG's playing style i would think (Depay as a right winger, sterling as a left)

I don't see what all the fuss about Sterling is. Think he's a typical case of a young English player being overrated beyond belief. He and Depay have a similar level of experience and as far as I'm concerned they're lightyears apart in terms of the standard they've progressed to. Depay himself still looks a tad raw but is looking more and more composed and clinical every week. Sterling still looks like an excitable puppy any time he gets near the opposition penalty area and often fluffs his lines with a poor pass or a poor finish.
Depay all the way for me.

I would take Sterling instead of Depay, if he is not a Liverpool player and leaving his wages and transfer fee aside. Sterling is a proven Premier League player and Depay has to adapt to Premier League hence there is more chance of Depay could be a flop. But considering Sterling is Liverpool player, wages and transfer fee, I would go for Depay.

I prefer Depay, I think they're similar in terms of potential, but I think Depay suits our 433 system better and would be cheaper. But Sterling is a very good player, albeit slightly overrated - he's hardly the saviour of England and Liverpool that most dippers ans some of the press seem to think he is. It would be great if we signed Sterling, though. Could you imagine all the scousers losing their shit? It would be hilarious!

Would be funny to see Sterling here, won't happen though.
They're both at a pretty similar level for me, still a little raw but have great potential, neither would walk into our first XI right now.
On purely ability, Depay for me, better end product and will get us more goals which is key to our 433 system. Sterling I don't think has improved a great deal from last season, his goal tally has regressed where as Depay has gone from strength to strength and under the tutorage of Van Gaal, already a respect there, he'll only get better.

I agree with your view. I think Depay is bound to join us in the summer anyway. That being siad, I wouldn't complain about Sterling joining. As I have said somewhere else, I think we might miss a player in Sterling's mould, able to move and dribble in tight spaces, because playing so high with so much possession is going to get teams to defend very deep against us. There will be games where a quick dribbler could be very useful to unlock well organised defences (Messi is on a completely different level, but that's pretty much one of his major asset and one of the reason why he has been flourishing in that Barcelona system, and why he has been so useful to them). I think Depay is a bit more "direct", closer to Ronaldo than to Messi for instance.

Depay all day for me,Sterling reminds me of Shaun Wright-Phillips everytime I see him play and where is he now? Depay looks more composed already and more likely to improve with time.

I thought the exact same thing a few days ago comparing Sterling to Wright-Philips. Huge similarities there for me. Similar sizes, similar speed and a similar original impact. If anything Wright-Philips was a better finisher/striker of the ball than Sterling is.
Alot of these really pacey players often get overrated beyond what they are because people are blown away by their blistering speed. He's proven himself to have some ability but that's about as far as it goes. If he doesn't watch himself he'll suffer the same fate as the likes of Wright-Philips and Aaron Lennon.
