Think it's about time he got his own thread due to his recent rise into the first team. Have to say he's getting better with every game.
Fair enough he played Costa onside today which ultimately proved costly but he's young and he'll learn from mistakes like that but for most of the game he was fantastic. I'd go as far as to say we don't need to bother with a new left back anymore to play backup to Shaw. I'd be more than happy having 2 exciting, young and English left backs.
Great pace, stronger than he looks, pretty sensible defensively despite his age and he's great going forward. Haven't seen any player put in so many good crosses as he has the last few weeks. Some absolute beauties.

If he keeps this going, Shaw may find it hard to get his place back.
Good again today, always calm and assured on the ball, LVG said it in his interview after that players were just clearing their lines but this kid was trying to play it out the right way. He learnt as the game progressed, struggled dealing with Willian early on who left him on his arse but after that he stood tall didn't dive in and made some good blocks.
Defended excellently all game bar that error for the goal but maybe down to a lack of communication. Going forward he's an asset as well, has built up a good understanding with Martial and Mata, delivered some beautiful crosses which unfortunately we couldn't make the most of.
Early days but he looks like a gem.

Only just turned 19 as well so still got some growing to do. And he's from Manchester, good to see a couple of local lads getting in the side and making an impact.

I didn't realize he doesn't have his own thread. This is well overdue then. What a surprise he's been this season, at least for me as I haven't seen him play before. He comes up and on the month of his debut he's nominated for player of the month along with Rooney and Martial - says it all really. We've been lacking someone who can make crosses like this one too:

Being honest, I hadn't seen that much of him either before this season. Seen him for the U21's a few times early this season but that's about it.
Before this season he'd barely featured for the U21's and had done most of his playing at U18 level. So he's only new to the U21 scene. Incredible when you think about how well he's adapting to first team premier league football.
Obviously he's nowhere near the finished article but hell if he can keep improving he's not only going to be back-up to Shaw he's going to be a serious threat and challenger to his position. Which will be good to see.

He hesitated a little bit in going in for the tackle against Costa and I'm sure he could have done better on a different day but the ball never should have been there in the first place. Don't understand why people are blaming him.
You're right though, I bet Shaw is watching him and if he's not already, he definitely should be worried about his place.

My only fear for him is that he is most likely to be dropped again as soon as Luke Shaw is match-fit again.

I liked his speech at the awards... He really doesn't feel any pressure playing in the first team, just a game like every other.

should be picked ahead of Rojo more often than not!
What about his contract running out in the summer. Heard there is mutual agreement to extend until 2017 (only?) which will be signed over the summer?!
Anyone who knows more?

We have this every year with a youth a player with people getting their knickers in a twist, I wouldn't worry, it's either already been signed or will be.
