Of course but at the end of the day it's just talk, generally with any manager they say what the fans/media want to hear.
It's was the same old Jose, very pragmatic rather than passionate. On the youth subject he was prickly, rafting off a number of those he promoted rather than genuinely showing an interest in it. We got a good insight into his transfers, plans for the team etc. which was worthwhile.
For me, he's not curbed the reservations that I had but we shall see, it's on the pitch where it really matters.

Thought also he looked more like a United manager than the ones before. Overall I think is was a good presser, despite not agreeing with everything.
The 2 points I disgree is:
1. Rooney can play a no.8, not 6 as he said but I think he can play 8. His best position should be 10.
2. Youth development is not about giving a number of players their debut, its about making them integral parts of the first team
Alvaro Morata maybe the only player who makes it to the top, Jese maybe counts as a second and is the only still at the club who brought him up. Morata or most prominent de Bryne and Lukaku left and became world-class elsewhere. So his youth record is very poor. He self admitted, that he sees almost no opportunity to thrust youth given the pressure you have challeging for titles. I disagree with that. I'd rather take a longer road to success but build it around players from within the club. Imo you need that basis for long time success rather than build teams of ready made players for a 3 year period.

Well I don't particularly care about his previous record. I'm glad that apparently the United board + the media have already pushed him to understand how important for the club is the development of young players. I don't expect him to play them every single match, but I hope the good ones would get a proper chance.
I quite enjoyed the little dig he had at Wenger, as well as Louis van Gaal.
The specialist part is the one that worried me the most, this means that several players of the squad could be deemed useless, obviously Blind being the main suspect. Unless he actually finds a solid position for him.

He said he prefers specialists but he always has 1 or 2 utility players, for instance someone who can fill in at centre back and left back. Blind is pretty safe in my eyes.

The good thing is that we start initially with a small squad, so not a lot of players have to be sold right now and I think he would prefer to have a good look at them before making his final decision

Compared to the previous 2 managers, there's an air of arrogance about Mourinho (more than an air in honesty). He said he's happy to get the job and it's a job everyone wants but he wasn't gushing in his praise like the past 2 were, who came across as children on Christmas morning. He believes he's big enough and good enough to manage us, I like that mentality. I also likes his comment saying "It's not a dream job, it is reality, I am Manchester United manager."

Having been defensively minded all season, yet possessing quality of a midfield player could Blind fill that spot of holding midfielder Mou lives by? The matic role if you like, or is he not physical enough in there?

Got a few options in that position but I want to see Schneiderlin given a proper unbroken run in that position. It's exactly what we bought him for.

I'd like to see Blind back in there, I didn't think his first season was that bad and he had a a few injuries as well so to write him off in there is premature for me. It's not easy adjusting to a new league particularly if you come from the Dutch, just look at Memphis, Blind's had the time now and playing in the centre back role has allowed him to come to terms with the pace and physicality of the league.
He's got the passing ability and intelligence of the game that some of our other options lack, he'll never be quick or physical but nor is Carrick, they play to their strengths and win the ball back in their own way. I would like to see him alongside Schneiderlin, they could well compliment each other pretty well.
I think it's pretty clear with Bailly coming in and from Mou's presser that he doesn't want Blind at CB but we don't know how he rates him otherwise. As long as he is here come the start of the season he's in with a shot, quality player capable of playing in numerous positions so I think he'll be fine.
