I suppose comedy is all based on what you relate to in terms of finding things funny. I too like Jason Manford though, especially his story about the guy who knocked out a pigeon while eating an ice-cream in a park..... Jason Manford pigeon hit in face story

Just came back from Star Wars Fucking spectacular, that's all I can say. There were little things that still bothered me, but overall I thought it was great. Then again, I'm a fan and I've been waiting for that movie for years so I might be bias Won't put too much info here as someone might still click

Star Wars Spoilers ( do not read if you have not watched it!!!) It was a fun film with a lot of fan service / nostalgia attacks but I was slightly disappointed. The plotline felt copy and pasted but I hope the next episode brings new stuff. Unlike most people, I didn't mind the politics in the prequel and I hope there is some of that in the next films.
I originally thought our villain was a badass and he really wasn't but I was fine with that. I hope we see him transform into an even bigger monster over time.
Han's death was spoiled to me before watching the film. Can't say how angry I was. But it was still an emotional scene, even though I knew it was coming. Chewy's scream really did it.
It was still a fun film but I do expect better for the next films.

It was still a fun film but I do expect better for the next films. Whoever spoiled that should be murdered. I managed to stay away from any information about the movie so I had no idea what to expect apart from the first trailer they released.
I didn't mind the BB8 as much as I thought I would and the lightsaber was still mildly annoying.
It was basically A New Hope 2.0, but I actually thought it was a nice pass to the next generation of Jedi. Of course that would all be for nothing if they don't make something completely different with the next two movies, as I think they should be able to stand on their own.
Finn and Ray were superb, loved the touches of humor here and there. Love the idea of a female being the next Luke.
I wasn't as impressed with Kylo Ren, but supposedly he's just getting into the Dark side so there should be development in the next episodes.
I was completely taken aback by Han Solo's death, brilliant scene as you didn't know what to expect until the very end. Had to wipe tears after they showed Chewie and Leia.
The Sith lord was the most annoying thing for me, I'm not quite sure who is he or where he comes from, I hope they elaborate a little bit in the next movies and like you said, put a political angle as it would be a shame to lose that angle.
But all those little things aside, I absolutely loved it, have been waiting for it for such a long time that I was careful not to build my expectations up and I had prepared for the worst, but was pleasantly surprised.
I kinda want to watch it again now.

Right, I don't like being the only one who doesn't know what the others are talking about. So I've finally decided, after years of peer pressure to watch the Star Wars movies.
So far I've seen episodes IV: A New Hope & V: The Empire Strikes Back. I'm going to watch the rest in order of I, II, III and then VI.
I've not been blown away by them but certainly enjoyed those 2 more than I thought I would, particularly episode V which I thought was actually pretty good. Episode IV was a bit meh and I found it quite boring in parts, actually fell asleep at one point.
The best way to describe how I feel so far is that they're still overrated but I can think of worse ways to kill 2 hours.

That's how it gets you... oh, I'll just watch a movie and then you're like 'meh'and before you know it you're planning a jedi wedding
But in all honesty, as much as I love Star wars, the movies on their own aren't something spectacular, but rather it's the whole universe that started with them that keeps drawing people in. I've managed to find 160 books so far, different authors but the same timeline, and I've only read like 15 of them. It's huge.

Star wars spoiler Didn't read the spoilers and was...still in shock with Han's death. Shouldn't kill him off in the first chapter of a trilogy.
... also was disappointed with certain characters backstory not being explained. Hopefully everything will be clear in the 2nd chapter. and also the copy and paste story from previous star wars movies.
It's not bad but not that good either.

Yesterday I watched Bone Tomahawk, which was a bit OTT but a lot of fun, and The Hateful Eight, which was very enjoyable but probably not one of Tarantino's best. I'm now contemplating whether I should grow a Kurt Russell-esq handlebar Moustache or not.

I thought it was great. For me it's in the same vein as films like Dude, Where's my car?, The 13th Warrior, and most pre 10,000bc Roland Emmerich films - totally ridiculous, but a fun way to waste a couple of hours.
