Deadpool - Good fun but thought the plot was a bit tame, there wasn't a great deal of action and the final battle was a bit heavy with the cgi. 7/10
Will be going to see Batman v Superman which hopefully will live up to expectation since Man of Steel was disappointing.

Did Concussion occur from a cheap shot by the Southpaw ? (violin)
I have lined up my VCR to play yet again the Rocky Horror Picture Show, best movie ever for us oldies who get the plot, the anecdotes, the scene setting and of course the music score.
If anyone knows where I can locate and download the original movie The Crying Game circa 1972 I think, please let me know as that is my dearest wife's favourite movie. I call her Dearest because she costs me the most and Hookers don't come cheap obscene-smiley-926

A little late as ever but I finally got round to watching Star Wars: A force awakens. As somebody who only just watched the other 6 relatively recently I have absolutely no ties to the old movies which may be part of the reason why I found this one the best of the lot.
I had no issues with them not explaining certain characters back-stories yet as they are clearly building towards the next 2 movies in the trilogy which will obviously reveal more. Great effects, action, humour in the right places, nostalgia in terms of linking to the old movies, mystery in the story and some truly spine tingling moments which gave me goosebumps. I also loved the ending, no words were needed.
I think the new breed were great as well. Rey and Fin are really likeable characters and played their parts well. I feel they'll do well carrying the movies forward.

Exactly! It's a great movie, even if you haven't watched the previous ones because it stands on its own. Although it does make it better if you've seen the previous ones. The only criticism that I can agree with is that's it's more or less the same story as the first one, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to stay that way, they just used the plot as a transition for the next generation. As for Fin - I absolutely love John Boyega. Watched all of his interviews and was pleased to find that he's just as great off screen. Captain America Civil War - Enjoyed it, great fight scenes, humour and all the rest of it. The plot was decent and the introduction of the characters as well as integrating existing ones like Ant Man was well done. It was good but Winter Soldier was better. 8/10
Looking forward to the next in line in the Marvel franchise, Black Panther etc. even the new Spider-Man which I've never really been a fan of.

Batman v Superman - Meh... this had the same problems of Man of Steel and was generally a bit of a mess. I don't read the comics so 'true fans' may have understood what was going on but for your average person like me they would struggle. Confusing and thin plot, dodgy characters and everything disjointed topped off with random dream sequences.
The end plan was also very vague and the fight scenes at the end were over the top with CGI like MOS. Plus for a film about superheroes there wasn't much heroism and it's wasn't exactly kid friendly.
I liked Affleck as Batman though, the fight scenes between the two 'heroes' were good and the introduction of Wonder Woman but that's about it.

Triple 9 - The trailer looked interesting so gave it a go, supposedly a crime thriller but there's nothing thrilling about this, starts off well but then goes completely downhill. Very disappointing given its cast. 4/10

Anybody got any recent films they'd recommend?
Eddie the Eagle - Enjoyed this, very feel good film and humorous, the actor playing Eddie does a great job portraying him. If you like light hearted sport biopics this is for you. 8/10
X Men Apocolypse - Meh... think the comic book industry are starting to go overkill on these now, barely can remember what happened in it. The best part was again the Quicksilver scenes but other than that it was a CGI fuelled mess with a rather mediocre plot. 5/10
