England for the Euro!
Mixed first half from us but great response coming from 2-0 down. Lovely goals from Kane and Vardy, Alli very good also. Germany were poor mind.
Get rid of Hendo and Lallana.

Alli was the best player on the pitch for me. Actually all the Spurs guys were, Smalling was solid as a rock as well. No reason we can't do some damage at the Euro's if we play with the same vigour and intent.

Watching that tonight makes me question whether they do need Rooney. He's definitely not played well enough this season to warrant a place as a centre forward and Welbeck is almost certainly a better option from out wide if they go that way.
I actually preferred the formation that they finished with though. With Vardy and Kane up top. The only way you fit Rooney into that formation is to have him at the bottom of the diamond, Dier holding obviously and Alli with one other in midfield, will probably be Henderson.

Yep, play like that and we might actually do something. Actually smiled through that and it wasn't just wind. Kane, I do like him (hint, hint). Loved Vardy's finish. We looked good, dood!

We've been here before though. We're always arguably one of the most impressive sides in the qualifying period and leading up to a tournament, then when it starts we wilt. I just hope he sticks with largely the same side we saw last night, fuck the likes of Sterling, Walcott, Chamberlain off.
Maybe a bit of United/Liverpool bias here but I thought Lallana and Henderson were probably the worst of the England players last night. Henderson has bags of energy and doesn't stop running but he is seriously lacking quality on the ball, can't shoot, can't pass and is careless in possession. I'd like to see Drinkwater play in that diamond with Dier in behind, Alli alongside and Barkley in front, then Rooney when he's back.

Exactly why there's no point getting carried away, was a friendly after all.
Completely agree on Lallana, fancy touches are all well and good but what's the point if there is no end product, same with Henderson running around like a headless chicken but no quality with the ball at his feet and he is awful in front of goal. Clyne as well for England has been rather poor, he picked up second half though. Smalling should play on the right as well as Cahill is a liability no matter what side, marking nobody for that goal last night and I'm still hoping Stones can get back in as we lack his distribution from back.
Hopefully Drinkwater puts in a fine display against the Dutch as I'm not sure Woy fancies Carrick. Stones as well needs a good performance.
Shame about Butland that injury could rule him out now for the season.

There is a bit of a different feeling about these guys though, it's the first time we've seen a largely youthful bunch. They're all full of enthusiasm and have absolutely no fear. Going 2-0 down away to Germany could've made them fall away but they kept going and got what they deserved. A few tweaks to the starting lineup and play with the same intensity in the Euro's and we will do some damage. Just don't know what they'll show when they're not playing well, whether they can scrap and get a result. As even though they were 2 down last night they were playing well.
It's why they need Rooney in there. We've all at some point this season said we want Rooney to be dropped and when he hasn't played and we've played well such as the Arsenal game we feel we've been justified. But the real sign of Rooney's importance is when we're not playing well and there is nobody there to pull the team through. I feel England look a similar side, they all had the belief to fightback from 2 down because they were playing well but I don't see many characters in there who would drag us through if we're not on our game.
Some idiots would actually take Sturridge to the Euro's over Rooney. Has barely kicked a ball all season. Doesn't matter, he'll probably be injured before the Euro's start anyway.

I agree, options and talent wise it's our best lot for a while, especially in attack, if only we had a quality partner for Smalling and a central midfield playmaker we wouldn't be a far off from a quality side. We need to back up last night though with another good show against Holland - who we should be beating- even with changes.
I wouldn't be against taking them both, it's the likes of Walcott, Ox and Lallana that shouldn't be going.
If Sturridge can stay fit he's a better option than that lot, Welbeck/Vardy have mainly been playing wide for us anyway, leaving Kane/Sturridge as central options and Rooney can play a number of positions.

Sturridge has done nothing since the season those cunts should've won the league. Mainly down to injuries I know but he's still done nothing to warrant a place in the squad. See if he can stay fit the rest of the season and have a positive impact on Liverpool's end to the season before thinking about taking him. Which, for obvious reasons I hope he fails to do.
The defence does worry me. Germany weren't great last night, yet managed to score 2 goals. I thought the best part of Clyne's game was his defending but he was arguably better going forward Yesterday and then Cahill is nowhere near good enough. Hopefully Stones can find some form before the end of the season and claim a place alongside Smalling. But even then it wouldn't fill me with confidence. Dier is an absolute must for me and will have to be on his A game as he's our only genuine ball winning holding midfielder.
