I've always enjoyed watching them, from the old ones like Who wants to be a millionaire and The Weakest Link, to the newer stuff like the 2 named above. I think it's more of a competitive thing than anything as I tend to only watch them when other people are around, just to show off how much I know.

you should do a pub quiz with some fellow smart people and take home the prizes... that's what I do.

England been ok tonight, Shaw did well, Smallings been good on that left side and in Clyne I feel we've finally got a solid right back. Also liking the look of the front three Ox, Roo, Welbeck. Will be tougher tests of course.

Been impressed with England, if they'd showed half the passion and determination they did tonight in the World Cup they might've got out of the group. Still pisses me off though, Rickie Lambert has barely played for Liverpool and when he has, he's been wank, Berahino has been one of the best players in the league so far this season and who does Woy bring on as a late sub? Donkey Lambert.

Nothing to do with passion and determination, just had better footballers on the pitch. So much more fluidity in midfield with Milner instead of Henderson and Chamberlain instead of Sterling. I like Sterling and think he's very talented but he's got a lot to learn with regards to where to go and what to do in certain situations, Chamberlain might not have quite as much ability but he's got more of a clue on what to do.
Last night's result isn't to be underestimated, Strachan has made Scotland hard to beat, this was only their second loss in eleven with the other being to Germany. There might actually be a bit of a reason to be optimistic for England going forward.
The third goal was one of the best worked goals I've seen from England in years.

So how well exactly did the Three Lions play yesterday?

It wasn't a classic by any means, but there was an element of dominance and control over the game that I've rarely seen from England - apart from against the likes of San Marino and Andorra obviously.
They aren't looking as tactically rigid as they have done most of the time, Wilshere was nominally the anchorman but he still had license to get forward, with Milner filling in whenever he did. Downing was completely anonymous but Lallana added another dimension to it as well in the second half.
I enjoyed the game, which is a sentence seldom said when England are concerned.

I wasn't downplaying the performance by saying they had more passion and determination. They played well, as I said I was impressed with them but still they looked far more hungry in that game than any other game I've seen them in for a long time. A combination of both better tactics and players as well as a side who looked like they wanted to fight for every ball produce such a dominant performance against what is (as you say) a tough to beat Scotland side.

I knew you weren't downplaying them, just giving different reasons for the improvement. You know praise for everything that should be pre-requisite in any footballer bugs me.

 ... Bugs me too but we know it's not always the case with a lot of players, which is why I pointed it out in the first place!
