Can see an improvement this season. Still has a lot of work to do before he can claim his position

The guy who let us down against the noisy neighbours. Does anyone actually see a long-term future for him?

sold to arsenal in january
think now we need to be ruthless, sell him and evans off, create money for us to spend (so FFP doesn't bite us) and buy 2 world class level (just about) CB's (Hummels/Subotic level) it has to be done otherwise we can forget about the top 4

Does anyone actually see a long-term future for him? Yes. He's still our best natural defender in my opinion. He's not the best on the ball and there's still a mistake in him, but give him an injury free 6 months and I think he'll show his worth. As for letting us down against City, yes he did, but he isn't the first one to do it, and he won't be the last. And he certainly isn't the most high profile one to do it and come back from it, Ronaldo got sent off against them twice.

A studs up tackle in his first or second season, can't really remember it but remember thinking it was harsh.

Second clip on there. My 13 year old self was obviously a bit biased, reckless to say the least.

Name me one better? Smalling's physically the best we've got, he's the biggest, the strongest, the quickest. Yesterday excepted, he isn't usually as rash as our others. His pace means he recovers from mistakes (both his own and others) far better than the rest. I think he covers crossing angles better than the others we've got.
As a pure defender, all the natural ability is there, his problems are his work actually on the ball and probably a few mentally - meaning he could do with a bit more confidence and composure and needs to be more vocal.

Only gets 1 match suspension - yes he was an idiot - but nobody will regret it more than him

People are being harsh on him because of this one instance where he was extra stupid. And because it was against City. Jones does stupid and rash things all the time and nobody bats an eye.

People ready to agree with me yet? There's still a mistake in him but he's shown since he's come back everything I always said he could do, he even looks like an actual footballer with the ball at his feet.

I never disagreed with you... Smalling has always been our best pure young CB.
