England he only needs 6 caps to go to equal Peter Shilton for all time England cap record.............. I think he wants that record as well and I'm sure he would accept a pay cut

Roo staying put for now. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39070917"Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I'm grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United.
"I hope I will play a full part in helping the team in its fight for success on four fronts.
"It's an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part of it."

Thanks Wazza at least it's clear .................. maybe the press can put this one to bed for at least ............... 2 minutes Mourinho has confirmed he is fit for the EFL Cup final. "He's fine, he's training with the team. He was not selected for Saint-Etienne because he was not ready to play but he was ready to have one more important training session and no doubts, he is involved in the game. “He did it confirming his future in exactly the right moment because I think this should be the last question about him until the end of the season.”
Jose lol .................. wishful thinking

09/07/2017 13:15, Report by Communications Department ROONEY TO JOIN EVERTON
Wayne Rooney is to rejoin Everton, 13 years after signing for the Reds from the Merseyside team.
Jose Mourinho said, "It is no secret that I have long been an admirer of Wayne; he has been a model professional throughout his time at the club and will remain in the history books for many years to come.
"It is never easy to see a great player playing less football than he would like and I could not stand in his way when he asked to go back to Everton. His experience, focus and determination will be missed and I wish him well for the future."
Ed Woodward said, "Wayne has been a fantastic servant to United since the moment he signed for us as a prodigiously talented, explosive teenager some 13 seasons ago.
"Who can forget his storybook debut hat trick against Fenerbahce, the spectacular overhead kick against City and the countless match-winning performances in his time here? But after much discussion, the club has decided to accept his request to rejoin his boyhood team.
"He goes having created some of the most magical moments in some of the most successful years in the club's history. Wayne leaves us as our greatest ever goalscorer and having won every major trophy in the game. His record will take decades for anyone to get close to matching and I am extremely grateful for the way he has led from the front since being appointed club captain three years ago.
"On behalf of the whole club and our hundreds of millions of fans around the world, we wish Wayne all the very best for the next phase of his incredible career."

I feel a little heartbroken that him leaving doesn't have the same impact as Giggs or Scholes leaving... is it because he's joining another PL club or people just don't feel like he deserves the same send-off?

Good Luck Wazza 13 years of blood sweat & tears ...... Thank you and God bless you - interesting article here - Wayne Rooney: Manchester United great or unfairly unloved? For me it's unfairly unloved - but go put your finger on exactly why ? www.bbc.com/sport/football/40518235His incredible achievements for us and England will be looked back on as huge milestones but I don't think he's been credited enough for it yet. He's the man they love to hate, our own fans included when his form declined It's the right move for him - I always said he would end up back at Everton - I thinks it's who he is - values his roots and traditions I really hope he can have a successful run there as well and pick up a few more England caps before hanging his boots up for good

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41027204Rooney retires from International Football. I'm a little surprised but I suppose he wants to concentrate and prolong his club career, thank you Wayne.
